Overview

I qualified from the University of Leicester having undertaken an intercalated BSc in Genetics.

Following this, I moved to Bristol to take up an academic foundation program post. I ultimately moved to Newcastle in 2015 to start as an NIHR academic clinical fellow.

I am currently based at the National Renal Complement Therapeutics Centre, where my research is focused on understanding novel genetic causes of atypical haemolytic uraemic syndrome, a form of rare kidney disease.

Specialty interest/techniques

My interests include kidney disease, specifically the role of endothelial dysfunction in development of disease.

During my PhD I have developed skills in mouse models of disease, flow cytometry, and pathological examination of mouse tissue.

Career aspirations

My ultimate career ambition is to become an academic paediatric nephrologist, with a specialist interest in endothelial dysfunction as it links to kidney disease.
